WHAT IS A SUBLUXATION AND HOW DOES IT AFFECT MY HEALTH AS WELL AS MY FAMILIES?

A subluxation is when one or more of the bones of your spine move out of position and pinch, choke or irritate spinal nerves. Spinal nerves are the nerves that come out from between each of the bones in your spine and branch throughout the entire body. Spinal nerves control the function of every single cell in your body. This pressure or irritation on the nerves then causes those nerves to malfunction and interfere with the signals traveling over those nerves.

How does this affect your health? Your nervous system controls and coordinates every function of your body. If you interfere with the signals traveling over these nerves then parts of you body will not receive the proper communication and will not be able to function at their optimal level. Basically, this interference causes static in the line and the cells don’t receive the proper information. We are continually replacing the cells in our body. It is vital that these cells receive the proper information so they can function correctly at their most optimal level.

Secondly, subluxations cause spinal degeneration or arthritis in addition to nerve irritation. Remember a subluxation is a misalignment of spinal bones. This is very similar to a tire on a car misaligning. The misaligned tire wears our faster and in advanced stages can cause additional problems to the axle and other mechanical parts. Just like the misaligned tire wearing out prematurely; our discs, spinal bones, nerves, muscles, and ligaments are now subject to additional stress.

The Doctor of Chiropractic locates and corrects the subluxations to reduce nerve interference and align the spinal segments. This is done through a series of chiropractic adjustment specifically designed to correct the subluxation. Chiropractors are the only experts trained to detect and correct subluxations.

HOW DOES MY SPINE BECOME SUBLUXATED?

Any physical, chemical, or emotional stress can cause subluxations.

Physical Stress can range from sudden trauma such as whiplash or a repetitive trauma such as sitting at you desk with you head turned day after day. Birth itself can exert 40-60 lbs. of pressure on the spine.

Chemical Stress is anything from eating too much sugar and preservatives to breathing environmental pollutants. This upsets the bodies’ chemistry, which disrupts the muscles and ligaments tone resulting in subluxations.

Emotional (Mental) Stress is something everyone has experienced in either tense or emotional situations, or in everyday living. Mental stress causes the ligaments and muscles to tighten resulting in subluxations.
